This new Marion-Franklin branch library introduces a long-awaited civic anchor to a neighborhood historically hemmed in by rail lines and highways. Shaped by the area’s strong sense of connection across generations, the building emphasizes openness, blurring the line between inside and out. Its rhythmic sawtooth form captures views toward the nearby park and community center and reflects the movement of the lively street outside. At the same time, a combination of industrial textures and warm wood tones creates an inviting, grounded atmosphere.
Program priorities include: a general reading lounge, adult collections space, an adult computing area, a quiet study room, individual study rooms, a teen homework help area, a children’s library, meeting rooms, support areas, and back-of-house work areas.
