Renovation

The renovation and expansion of Miami University’s Bonham House will support the programming and space needs of the Myaamia Center. The Center, a Miami Tribe of Oklahoma initiative within an academic setting, serves the Myaamia people, Miami University, and partner communities through research, education, and outreach that promote Myaamia language, culture, knowledge, and values.

The project will include classrooms, offices, meeting and activity spaces, indoor and outdoor areas for gatherings and cultural practices, as well as spaces for hands-on learning workshops and support/circulation areas. The concept design for the Center has been completed, and with additional funding, construction will begin. The project will preserve the original exterior of the Bonham House while renovating the interior to reflect Myaamia culture.

With the concept design complete, construction will proceed as additional funding is secured, creating a space that balances preservation with culturally responsive design and flexible, modern programming.
