Schooley Caldwell was the Associate Architect (as a consultant to LMN Architects, the Design Architect, and Architect of Record) for a $140 million renovation and expansion project at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
Originally intended as an interior revitalization project, the scope grew and, in addition to a complete interior renovation, the Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority also decided to construct an addition and complete redesign of the north end of the Convention Center. The expansion added approximately 40,000 SF of exhibit space and new meeting rooms.
Schooley Caldwell delivered code analysis and condition assessments to help LMN set priorities, produced design and construction documents, and led most construction administration and on-site observation.
At the time of the renovation, there were 210 original pieces of artwork created by 155 artists from Central Ohio located in the convention center. A new LED sculpture titled “As We Are” by Matthew Mohr was also installed.

52 phases of construction completed on accelerated schedule and within budget.
